Requirements

The Language Grid, operated by Language Grid Kyoto Operation Center, can be used for non-profit and research purposes. Before using the Language Grid, an Agreement is required between your organization and the Language Grid Kyoto Operation Center (operated by Language Grid Association.)

The requirements for registration to the Language Grid are as follows:

  1. The size of the user group has to be small enough for the representative to have control over the use of the Language Grid by all its members.
  2. The organization must be able to manage the user ID and password data for the Language Grid with a limited amount of administrators in order to prevent any breach of information.
  3. The following information of the user organization must be published on the organizations website: the name of the organization, the representative's name, and the postal address.
  4. The intended target organizations are as follows (in principle, private individuals do not meet the requirements for registration to the Language Grid):
    • Public organizations or NPOs using the Language Grid for their activities.
    • Groups that use the Language Grid for CSR(corporate social responsibility) activities.
    • Groups that use the Language Grid for research use that does not directly contribute to commercial profit.

Procedures

If your organization meets the requirements above, please follow the procedures described below to join the Language Grid.

Step 1: Send an application to Language Grid Kyoto Operation Center

Please include a description of your motivation and objectives to join the Language Grid, and send an application to the Language Grid Kyoto Operation Center by e-mail: operationmailaddresslangrid.org.
Fill in the Agreement form, add the representative's signature, scan the signed Agreement and attach the scanned PDF file in the application e-mail.

Please download the Agreement, introduction of the Agreement and the instructions to fill in the Agreement below. You can find the introduction materials in more details from the operation web site.

Please ensure that the official representative of the group sends the request.

Step 2: Receive a reply from Language Grid Kyoto Operation Center

After receiving your application, the Language Grid Kyoto Operation Center will examine your organization's eligibility and send an appropriate response via e-mail. Provided that your organization is approved to join the Language Grid, the Representative of Language Grid Kyoto Operation Center will sign the Agreement form and send it to you.
After concluding the Agreement, Language Grid Kyoto Operation Center will send you the scanned ratified Agreement form with an introduction to how to use the Language Grid by e-mail.

Change of Registered Information

If you change the registered informations, please download the "Change of Registered Information", fill in the form and attach the PDF file in the application e-mail.
