"Members Only": A Setting to Secure Exclusive Use of Language Resources for Members
For language resource providers who wish to release their language resources exclusively to license subscribers or specific members, Language Grid has a “Members Only” feature to control access to your language resources. You can control the access using the Language Grid Service Manager.
Go to the “Registration of Language Resources” page (see the right-hand figure), and in the “Permitted Users” line, select the “Members Only” option: all the users are denied access to your language resources. Then on the “Control of Language Resources” page, choose the users who you wish to allow access to your resource.
EDR Bilingual Dictionary and EDR Concept Dictionary are using this feature. Only licensed users can have unlimited access to these dictionaries.

Language Grid Users: Kita Laboratory at Kansai University
at the Faculty of Informatics, Kansai University
Kita Laboratory at the Faculty of Informatics, Kansai University has joined the Special Interest Group on Multilingual Support for Education (SIGMUSE) of the Language Grid Association this year. Our activity in the group is a part of seminar class for juniors. Our activity includes carrying out a survey of users’ need for multilingual school documents. We aim to create a Web site to share documents related to the school; these documents are translated into different languages and stored in communities.
In November, we received a grant under the Asian Neighbors Network Program of the Toyota Foundation. With this grant, we are launching a project to create a Web site from the survey data of school documents and analysis data of links to international associations in Japan; these data have been collected by conducting seminars. As an organizer of the project, we are increasing cooperation with other laboratories, educational boards, school teachers, volunteer interpreters, and educational non-profit organization staffs. This project is expected to contribute to the provision of atomic services and the enrichment of language resources. Therefore, we will mainly be involved with the Language Grid Project as a language resource provider.
