Teleconference

[Exchange with Australian Schools]

As part of their integrated studies, eighth graders at Kansai University Junior High Schools are involved in an ongoing exchange program with five schools in Australia in order to understand other cultures through international exchange.
This academic year, students have participated cultural exchange with five schools in Australia: Shenton College High School, Mount Anna High School, Hillbrook Anglucan School, Millao State School, and Derrinallum P-12 School.

BBS equipped with a translation function

To overcome language barriers, students on both ends engage in dialogue using real-time translation software through a networked bulletin board system. Through this system, everyone introduced themselves, shared information about their favorite foods and hometowns, and exchanged views on a variety of subjects. Translation can release students’ language barrier and stress from struggling with creating sentences. While using the BBS, students checked pronunciation they do not know and enjoyed creating original comments based on what they want to say.
The exchange experience is conceived to help prepare students to communicate effectively with people from all countries. Kansai University Junior High School will continue to actively pursue exchange relationships for students with overseas institutions.
