Kodensha's J-Server ASP Service will be launched in the Language Grid

An ASP service for Language Grid of Kodensha's machine translation J-Server will be launched in May. It will be registered in the Language Grid as a "Members Only" service, a paid language service that is available exclusively to subscribers. Three language pairs will be registered separately: Japanese-English, Japanese-Chinese, and Japanese-Korean. Compared with the current free J-Server in the Language Grid, that is provided by NICT and Kyoto University; this new service will always provide the latest translation engine with the constant addition of new words. Also, the ASP service is provided through multiple servers and that prevents access error caused by lumped load.
More information on subscriptions will be available soon.
(Revised on May 19) Due to some technical reasons, the launch will be in June.

Monthly Maintenance for June

The next maintenance of the Language Grid will be conducted on Monday, June 1, 18:00-21:00 JST. If you wish to use the Language Grid during this period, please contact us in advance at operation [at] langrid.org.

Knowledge Systems Laboratory of Nagaoka University of Technology aims to achieve "Knowledge Organizer," which extracts and summarizes the necessary knowledge from the massive amount of information on the Internet to take advantage of such information and knowledge and conducts research on text processing, knowledge processing and their application system. Recently, in order to advance the technologies that could be the components of Knowledge Organizer, our research theme includes question answering systems, a patent map system, an intelligent bulletin board system, and a cross-language information retrieval system.
The cross-language information retrieval system can find a relevant document even if it is written in different languages from the query. The general cross-language search system translates the query into the same language of the targeted document to conduct a search. The query translation differs from the general translation; the former requires a translation result in the form of a word set that expresses the intention of the query in a few words. To realize such a translation, we thought that combining several translation systems and specialized dictionaries of different fields would be effective and now use the Language Grid.
